Tall Commercial/Mixed Use Building of the Year
Entry Criteria
Celebrates tall buildings combining multiple functions (retail, hospitality, residential, office), rewarding successful integration of diverse uses.
Judges in this category will be looking for projects that exemplify the art and efficiency of mixed-use design – where a variety of functions coexist harmoniously within a single vertical structure. The focus is on how the building creates synergy among its uses to enhance the experience for occupants, visitors, and the broader community. Key areas of consideration include:
• Integration and functionality: How effectively different functions are combined, organised, and connected to ensure smooth circulation, privacy, and operational efficiency.
• Design innovation: Creative architectural and planning solutions that address the complexities of mixed-use environments while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic and identity.
• User experience: Quality of experience for all building users – residents, workers, visitors, and guests – with attention to comfort, accessibility, and wayfinding.
• Sustainability and efficiency: Energy performance, shared systems, and sustainable design strategies that enhance the building’s overall efficiency and environmental responsibility.
• Urban contribution: The building’s role in activating and enriching its urban context, fostering community interaction, and contributing to the vitality of its surroundings.
• Adaptability and long-term value: Flexibility to accommodate future changes in use, technology, or occupancy patterns.
